Writers Resort represents two different epochs in Soviet modernist architecture – the Residential building of 1930s late Soviet avant-garde era and the Restaurant structure of 1960s architecture of Soviet Modernism both designed by two prominent Armenian architects Gevorg Kochar and Mikayel Mazmanyan. Within the framework of involvement in restoration process of the Resort throughout 2016-2017, our team conducted a preliminary technical assessment of the building, and is assigned to carry out the restoration and re-use proposal of the building. The project is funded by the Getty Foundation’s “Keeping it Modern” project grant to Writers Union of Armenia.
